Got about 7 of these books. N. T. Wright is one of my favorites ever since the Climax came out. I enjoyed your review on sex.God. by Rob Bell. I got the book and thought paled out in comparison to his 1st – Velvet Elvis. Great stuff here.
In the NIV Bible Application series, the book on Judges by K. Lawson Younger is also top notch.
I currently have “The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bibles Grand Narrative” coming in the mail. I’m curious and currently looking into what Westminster and Biblical mean by “missional” readings of the OT, and also its relationship to the “Emergent Church”.
You read good stuff. Have you heard of “The Shack?” A wildly popular piece of fiction? I just did one of the 5 negative reviews out of 200 on Amazon and wonder if anyone else with some degree of theological sophistication has come accross it. Let me know.
It’s a work of fiction. Sit back, grab a pipe, relax and read. Obviously don’t base you theology on the book. Remember “The Great Divorce”, by Lewis? Same thing. Fiction.
I was no were near as impressed as I expected. But I would recomend it for enjoyment’s sake.
You can pick up bits and peices of the authors personal theological views(which i dont think would be overtly established)…but 99% of people who read it just enjoy the questions and answers on suffering and pain.

I just cited the JPS commentary in my Hebrew paper on Genesis 3:22-24. It certainly provides a unique perspective.
