Daniel and Tonya of the blog ‘Greek and Hebrew Reader’ have an excellent interview with Karyn Traphagen, who is currently doing her Ph.D. at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Karyn while she was at Westminster. I’m pretty sure she knows Hebrew better than Moses. Be sure to read the entire interview…and also not to make sweet potatoes if you ever invite the Traphagens over for dinner.

Karyn is one of God’s wonderful blessings to the church…and she may not be happy that I write that : ).

Well, she knows enough about Hebrew to know Moses couldn’t have written in the Hebrew attributed to him
And if you have us over to dinner, I’ll eat her portion of sweet potatoes. That is my role as her covenant head.

I didn’t know the T’s moved to SA! Cool stuff.

Haha, no Adam. We have moved to a foreign land where we had to learn a whole new language, but it’s called “North Carolina” (Durham, to be specific). As question 6 makes clear, Karyn is doing her doctoral work by “distance ed,” for lack of a better term. It is a European-style doctorate, meaning a very long dissertation but no classroom requirements.
She did spend two weeks in South Africa last year, and hope to go back at least once during her work, as well as at the end to receive her degree.

North Carolina is an entirely different country – and while we dont have lions or elephants like SA, we do have things almost utterly lacking in the greater north east.
Like Sweet Tea, and good manners….
