desktop challenge

Jim West had the idea to challenge bibliobloggers to take a screen shot of their computer and post it for the world to see. Mine is not as exciting as Jim’s, although I do like to see the motto ‘Think Different’ daily both on my computer and my iPhone. It might be ironic, considering the popularity of Apple these days, but I nonetheless like it…almost like a personal motto of sorts.

Here, without further ado, is my desktop screen capture (click for a full size view).

I would be interested in seeing others’ as well (if you have an Apple, press ⌘+shift+3 to take a screen shot).

On a PC press the print screen button, and then paste your image into your image editor of choice. (Paint will work fine)

I must say my desktop at home is fairly boring at the moment. It typically is just the color black with some random icons.

I’m a big fan of minimalism.

v02468: Have you read any Lemche or Davies? ;)

I have a Babylonian stone carving of a couple of Baal priests, which makes me a nerd.

I have Caravaggio’s painting of the Aqedah…which also makes me a nerd.

I try to keep mine fresh, but here’s what it looks like at the moment: http://x68.xanga.com/e0ef17e5c4333220975447/t173317081.bmp

Jared: There is a book that has that painting on the cover and it’s bothering me because I can’t remember. Do you happen to know?

I have Brad Lidge raising his arms in victory, which makes me a nerd, but of a different sort. ;-)

art: You must obviously be thinking of the Kindle edition of ‘Fear and Trembling’. http://www.amazon.com/FEAR-TREMBLING-KINDLE-ENG/dp/B0017QW6O4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226925105&sr=8-7

And yes, maybe a different type of minimalism. ;-)

    Of course I know…It’s Kierkegaard’s Fear & Trembling (Penguin)

gump: Nice, good to see another Apple fan. What’s the application in on right side of your dock nearest the trash?

jared: That makes the most sense, but I swear that I’ve seen it recently on a cover of another book because I remember thinking, “The Aqedah? How that that painting make sense on the cover of a book about _____?” I just forget that the ______ is.

    Thanks.

The icon would be VMware Fusion. I love it …. and have (sadly) taken the time to setup 7 separate operating systems with it…. DOS 6.1, Win 3.1, Win 95, Win 98, Win XP, Vista and Ubuntu. It works great, couldn’t recommend it enough.
